

CLCR's Board Of Directors
Doug Gamble
Mr. Gamble was an International Representative of the Union of Needletrades,
Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE) 1995-2002 and the Amalgamated Clothing
and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU), 1985-1995. He is currently a member of the
boards of directors of the Highlander Research and Education Center in New Market,
Tennessee, and the Socio-Technical Systems Roundtable.
Jethro Head
Head is the president of Bakery, Confectionery,
Tobacco, and Grain Millers Union Local 1 in Chicago representing over 5,000
workers in major candy and baking companies in Chicago including Tootsie Roll,
Nabisco, and Nestles. Jethro is also a Vice President of the Illinois State
Federation of Labor. Head was one of the founders of CLCR’s Candy
Institute. In the last two years, Local 1 has initiated education and training
programs at companies the Local represents as well as a very successful English
as a Second Language Program at the union hall.
Michael Locker
Founder and president of Locker Associates,
Inc., a New York economic consulting firm that specializes in corporate
restructuring, buyouts, feasibility studies, developing business plans, and
performing due diligence. Locker is a recognized authority on reorganizing troubled
companies through employee stock ownership plans, and a leading steel industry
analyst, publishing and editing for the last eleven years a monthly newsletter,
Steel Industry Update. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University
of Michigan. He has taught economics and social science at Booklyn College.
Harvey Lyon
Lyon, principal of a business brokerage consulting firm called HTL, Inc., has
worked as a consultant to CLCR on various projects throughout the last 10 years.
He co-founded several businesses including Chicago Focus, Inc. in 1988, and
he has a long history in the area of developing corporate strategy, mergers,
and acquisitions in addition to 30 years experience in the management of manufacturing
companies. Lyon has a Ph. D. in English Literature from Harvard University.
He currently serves on CLCR's Board of Directors.
John Simmons
Simmons is president of Participation
Associates, a Chicago-based management consulting firm that works to improve
the performance of union leaders, chief executives, school principals and senior
management teams in numerous sectors of the economy. Simmons is also president
of Strategic Learning Initiatives, a non-profit organization serving public
schools. He is author of the book Working Together: Employee Participation in
Action published by Alfred Knopf, which won the Employee Stock Ownership Association's
Book of the Year Award.
Steve Viederman
Viederman retired from the presidency of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation in
2000, which was a leader in environmental justice and mission-related investing.
He now serves on a number of non-profit boards dealing with issues of social
and economic justice, and does pro bono consulting with community groups in
the southwest on culturally sensitive economic development. Steve lives in New
York.
